Llamas

These three girls are new arrivals in 2008 and we are thrilled to have them join the farm family! Cloud (right) says she is very happy to be here too and loves watching the goats and her people putter around the barn.

They are being adopted from Southeast Llama Rescue and just arrived at the new barn. In fact, they were the first to move in!

The grand lady of the group is Lucy, tall, dark and handsome. She is the mom of both other girls. She's not been handled much and we're not certain how old she is, possibly around 7 - 9 yrs old. She leads the excursions around the 15 acres property.

Cloud is an elegant 2 year young lady. She is very photogenic and smiles for the camera. She's the first to check out anybody or anything entering the barnyard, even the twice daily water buckets must be checked immediately.

Penny is the baby! Not quite a year old. Bold and curious and she has adorable freckles.
She has begun to "talk" to me. Humming away as if she's trying to tell me her story.

HERE is a video of them
pronging across the pasture.
Pronging is a four-legged springing gait in llamas as well as gazelles and antelopes. When you watch them do it, you can't help but smile!

Below are some more candid shots...

There are many more llamas that need good homes
or you can help with a donation to help with feed and vet care
